The softest sugar-free and sugar-free Easter cookies are here and they are perfect for young and old.

I have made in the past lots of different cookies, with monk fruit sugar substitute and with cinnamon. This year, however, I wanted to make a more kid-friendly recipe without sugar and without substitutes but with dates only.

To make these cookies, you will need: water, olive oil, orange juice (and zest if you want), dates, and cinnamon.

Tips and Substitutions

Of course, if you want to add sugar instead of dates, you can do so, but you will need to reduce the amount of flour in your recipe.

These cookies are slightly sweet but delicious. If you want them sweeter, you can add a little honey or maple syrup to the recipe.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE

Paying too much attention to numbers (calories) can harm your relationship with food. My own philosophy is to put in my body foods that nourish my body and soul. However, if for some reason you are on a diet and need to count your calories as well as the nutrients contained in each food, below I have the nutritional value of the specific dessert per piece.

Wonderful, soft, made only with dates.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 200 gr. dates
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 800 gr. self-rising flour

Instructions

  • In a bowl, I pour the dates and hot water and let them soften for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a bowl, I pour the water, orange juice, and olive oil.
  • In another bowl, I add the flour, the dates after pounding them in a food processor until they become a paste, the cinnamon, and finally all the liquids. I mix until I have a dough that doesn't stick to my hands.
  • If it sticks, add a little more flour.
  • I weigh out 45 g of dough and form about 40 cookies.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 15-20 minutes.
  • My cookies are ready.
