I have the easiest wholemeal burger buns for you today.

Since it is very difficult to find buns for wholemeal burgers in the market, if you want and you like burgers, you can make them yourself easily and simply.
In fact, you can make more and put them in the freezer to have them ready for the days when you want to enjoy a homemade burger.
To make them you will need wholemeal flour, water, dry yeast, olive oil and salt.
To get a nice color on top, instead of egg, you can make a mixture of milk (or plant based milk), maple syrup and mustard and brush your buns with it before putting them in the oven.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE
Paying too much attention to numbers (calories) can harm your relationship with food. My own philosophy is to put in my body foods that nourish my body and soul. However, if for some reason you are on a diet and you have to count your calories and the nutrients contained in each food, below I have the nutritional value of bread (per loaf).

Burger Buns with Whole Wheat Flour
Ingredients
- 1 tsp dry yeast
- 150 ml lukewarm water
- 350 gr. whole wheat flour
- salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
for the vegan egg wash:
- 1 tbsp plant based milk
- 1 tsp maple syrup
- 1/2 tsp mustard
Instructions
- I start by mixing the warm water with the dry yeast in a bowl. I leave aside for 10 minutes.
- Put the flour and salt in a large bowl. I add the olive oil.
- I also add the water with the yeast. I mix well. I knead with my hands. If necessary and the dough sticks, add a little more flour.
- Cover the dough with a towel and leave it in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Uncover and divide into 4 smaller dumplings.
- Form balls and put them on non-stick paper in a pan.
- Preheat the oven to 190C.
- In a small bowl, mix the milk with the maple syrup and the mustard. Grease your buns and sprinkle sesame seeds on top if you like.
- Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
- Your buns are ready.
