This recipe for homemade tahini is very easy and you will only need 2 ingredients to prepare it. 

The truth is that it is very simple to make tahini at home and even with just 2 ingredients. What are these; Sesame and olive oil. Of course, if you want, you can also add a little salt. 

The whole process will not take you more than 10 minutes and your homemade tahini will be much cheaper than the commercial one. 

What should you watch out for?

Sesame Seeds: You will need raw sesame seeds to make the perfect tahini. 

Olive oil: I personally use olive oil in my tahini recipe. You can, if you want, use sesame oil or even sunflower oil. 

Salt: It is not necessary but if you want you can add a pinch. 

How to make your tahini 

Start by coloring your sesame. Put the sesame seeds in a pan and stir until it acquires a light color. 

Put your sesame in the blender and beat it until it becomes like flour. Then add the olive oil and beat until you get the perfect tahini texture. 

How to store your tahini

Homemade tahini can be kept in a well-closed jar in the refrigerator for up to a month. Give the tahini a good stir before each use.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup sesame seeds
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • Start by passing the sesame through the pan until it gets a little color. We don't want it to turn gold or burn.
  • Put it in the blender and beat until it becomes like flour. It will happen very quickly.
  • Add the olive oil and continue beating until you have the texture you want.
  • Transfer to a jar and store in the refrigerator for up to a month.
